The A1A revitalization project should serve as a model of a complete nature/wildlife revitalization project conducted throughout the whole AIP. The results of the implementation of this project will become a symbolic statement of what our AIP community values and prioritizes.
Insects are very important as they are "fundamental ecosystem engineers", in particular pollinators are vital for economic success and environmental quality. A sharp decline in biodiversity, such as AIP is in danger of experiencing, leads to a loss of environmental wellbeing. Diverse and high-quality pollinators are essential for the development and health of the entire ecosystem.

Update on Goats
It’s been over a week now since the Amelia Island Plantation Foundation has had goats along the south end of A1A clearing the vines and invasive vegetation next to the bike path. The response from those in the AIP Community who have visited the site has been outstanding and we’ve gotten Five Star Reviews from all the goats on the quality of the cuisine as well as the selection.
We are now going to take a short break in this all-you-can-eat buffet and give the goats a rest, while the AIPF coordinates with the FL Dept. of Transportation on the expansion of the Pollinator Pathway to Long Point that’s scheduled over the next 3-4 years.
We hope to have the goats back soon for their desert.
For all of you who have supported the Foundation’s efforts … THANKS!

Over the next few weeks, the Amelia Island Plantation Foundation will be hosting an “all you can eat buffet” for Goats On The Go along First Coast Highway/A1A, from south of the Cooper Bridge to Long Point Drive. This clearing is in preparation for the Foundation's plans to extend the Pollinator Pathway over the next few years.
The goats will be fenced in from the west edge of the bike path to the beginning of the grass along A1A. They would love some company, so please stop by and say "hello".
